Spots, Dots, Rulings, Angles, Moirés and More: An Introduction to Screening for Flexography
This Membernar is part one of a two-part series on screening for flexography. In this “introductory level” presentation, Mark will take a look at some of the basics of flexographic screening—including resolution, dot shapes and screen angles. He will then go beyond the basics to look at angle systems, rosette structures, moirés and more. Mark concludes with a look at transitional (AM/FM) screens as well as cell patterns designed for ink transfer.

Join Mark as he explains:
• How color is reproduced on a flexographic press by using screens made up of halftone dots of different sizes.
• The basic parameters of screening technology, including dot shape, screen ruling and screen angle.
• Computer-to-Plate resolution and its impact on dot quality.
• Why screens that combine AM/FM screening categories are called “transitional” or “hybrid.”
• How screens can enhance ink transfer by imaging smaller “cells” into the larger dots.
